GoldenKey at the UN MSME Day exhibition

On June 27, "GoldenKey-SDG Solutions Campaign" (“GoldenKey Campaign” for short), initiated by the China Sustainability Tribune, was invited to a small exhibition on empowering the sustainable development of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), hosted at the building of United Nations (UN), Beijing, China.
The exhibition was one of the annual theme events co-organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE) and China Association of Trade in Services (CATIS) on the occasion of the UN MSME Day 2023, aiming to showcase the achievements of relevant agencies in supporting MSMEs to build resilience and meet SDGs. As one of the few non-UN agencies representatives on the day, the China Sustainability Tribune introduced GoldenKey Campaign with a focus on its long-standing work in promoting and supporting MSMEs to practice sustainable development, which received positive feedback from the exhibitors on site.
The goal of GoldenKey Campaign is to identify excellent actions for realizing SDGs by businesses, and contribute to promoting sustainable development globally. Since 2020, it has been attracting 494 actions from 414 companies across various industries, including a number of MSMEs. The Campaign provides a platform for them to exchange ideas, showcase their work, and promote their outstanding contributions towards achieving SDGs. It allows MSMEs to display their innovative actions towards the SDGs, further stimulating their desire and ability to contribute while providing them with opportunities to communicate and cooperate with larger companies and investment institutions.
The Campaign also offers MSMEs opportunities to promote and disseminate their actions. For instance, the GoldenKey Collection of Excellent Sustainable Development Actions in China, published for three consecutive years, and the Report on Shaping the Low-Carbon Leadership of Chinese Enterprises by GoldenKey Solutions, released at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow (COP26), both demonstrate the innovative actions of MSMEs aimed at contribution to the SDGs.
MSMEs have demonstrated their tremendous enthusiasm and great potential for contributing to SDGs through the GoldenKey Campaign. For instance, HurRain NanoTech (Beijing) Co., Ltd. aims to provide clean water to 2 billion people worldwide through innovative iterations of clean water production equipment design; Beijing Baopu Recycle Culture Communication Co., Ltd. has launched the “Treasure Action” to promote a zero-waste lifestyle; and XAG Co., Ltd. from Guangzhou supports farmers through technology, having flown drones over cotton fields in Xinjiang.
On the day, the event also featured a number of workshops on the theme "Strengthening the Resilience of MSMEs to Accelerate the Implementation of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", bringing together representatives and speakers from governments, industry associations, academic institutions and UN agencies. The discussions focused on how to support MSMEs in addressing global challenges, including the ongoing impact of COVID-19, extreme weather, natural disasters, and global conflicts.
