By the end of 2017, Beijing Public Transportation Corporation had a total of 99,410 employees. The total assets reached 46.072 billion yuan and the net assets were 27.661 billion yuan. With 32,259 registered operating vehicles, 1,028 operating routes, an annual public electric vehicle mileage of 1.263 billion kilometers, a passenger traffic volume of 3.187 billion and a daily passenger traffic volume of 8.73 million, it undertakes the main task of Beijing ground public transportation and plays an important role in the development of Beijing urban public transportation.

Optimizing the energy structure of vehicles
 
Beijing Public Transportation Corporation has firmly implemented the capital clean air campaign, optimized and adjusted vehicle models and energy structure, and insisted on developing energy-saving and environment-friendly vehicles by replacing old diesel vehicles with new energy electric vehicles and clean energy vehicles to reduce the emission of pollutants.
 
Developing new energy buses: By the end of 2017, the group had 26,707 public electric vehicles, including 7,815 new energy vehicles, 8,397 natural gas vehicles and 10,495 diesel vehicles (1,107 Euro VI standards, 701 National V standards, 6,463 National IV standards and 2,224 National III standards). The number of new energy and clean energy vehicles reached 14,869, accounting for 60.7% of the total vehicles. The number and the proportion of new energy and clean energy vehicles have greatly increased, becoming the mainstream of the group’s vehicles, and its vehicle technology level has maintained the national leading level.
 
Accelerating infrastructure construction: To fully support the development of new energy and clean energy vehicles, Beijing Public Transportation Corporation also accelerates infrastructure construction. By the end of 2017, 65 LNG skid-mounted gas stations and 37 dual-source tram substations had been built. To guarantee the power demand of electric vehicles, 500 charging piles were newly built in more than 80 stations in 2017. The dual-source trackless trolley lines replacement project phase III realized the building of trolley line network and the construction of line network upgrading and renovation.
 
Managing vehicle energy consumption effectively
 
Beijing Public Transportation Corporation has been actively adopting new technologies and models to save energy, reduce emissions and improve regional environmental quality.
 
Optimizing the layout of the line network: Beijing Public Transportation Corporation specially set a department responsible for optimizing the layout of the line network to reduce the consumption of inefficient kilometers. It has set up a vehicle technology research laboratory and issued agreements of employment to engineering and technical personnel to provide a platform for strengthening vehicle risk prevention and energy-saving technology research.
 
Adopting advanced emission reduction technology: Beijing Public Transportation Corporation actively applies new technologies, new products, new techniques and new materials to improve safety and reliability of vehicles, to improve vehicle allocation level, and to reduce energy consumption, striving to save energy, reduce consumption and advocate green travel. Its vehicle technology and environmental protection level maintain the national leading level, having realized simultaneous development with developed countries.
 
Enhancing the assessment and management of energy consumption: The company has established a quota assessment mode of vehicle energy consumption and implemented a three-level assessment management. It pushes forward the construction of energy control center, implements IC card oil and gas refilling information system technology, and gradually establishes a complete vehicle energy consumption statistics system, using CAN bus to monitor and control oil-consuming vehicles and strengthening the monitoring and analysis of oil-consuming vehicles. It strengthens energy-saving training and education and publicizes and exchanges energy-saving experience to enhance employees’ awareness of energy conservation. It has also revised the vehicle maintenance institution and improved the maintenance techniques to be more targeted in vehicle energy efficiency and emission control.
 
Reducing empty-loaded rate: The company has established a mobile repair mechanism, and more than 80% of the lines has achieved regional mobile repair. It not only reduces empty-loaded rate, contributes to the saving of energy consumption, but also improves transportation capacity, and provides passengers with faster and more comfortable services.
 
Encouraging technological innovation: The company launches scientific and technological progress awards regularly and encourages research on energy conservation and emission reduction technologies, the treatment and recycling of “waste water, waste gas and waste residue” and the use and technology of renewable energy.

Social benefit
 
In 2017, the multiple public transportation in Beijing carried 29,000 passengers on a daily base, making about 10,000 private car owners give up driving and take public transportation instead, which not only alleviated road congestion fundamentally, but also effectively reduced exhaust emissions. The direct effect of the improvement of enterprise energy structure is the sharp decline of pollutant emissions. Since 2015, Beijing Public Transportation Corporation has reduced pollutant emissions by 1284.17 tons in accumulation after the improvement of energy structure.
 
Beijing Public Transportation Corporation obtained the energy management system certification in 2015. In 2016, it received the review of energy measurement by the Beijing Municipal Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision, and was graded 90 points, the highest score since Beijing conducted review of energy measurement.
 
Economic benefit
 
From 2015 to the end of 2017, Beijing Public Transportation Corporation has saved 36.06 million liters of fuel in total, 13.54 million kilograms of gas, and 37.56 million kilowatts of electricity by conducting energy efficient management. The performance of comprehensive energy consumption control is remarkable. It developed 125,108 tons of certified voluntary emission reduction (CCER), among which the actual tradable CCER reached 78,447 tons, and completed the transaction of 20,000 tons in 2017, thus contributing to low-carbon and environmental protection.
