The corporate participation is indispensable is to restore biodiversity by 2030 and ensure the full realization of the 2050 Vision of "Living in Harmony with Nature".

The Biodiversity: Corporate Practice and Contribution in China gives readers a relatively comprehensive look into Chinese enterprises' performance in underscoring and participating in biodiversity conservation, and highlights the experiences and achievements of a number of advanced enterprises in biodiversity conservation. It provides references to global business and industry to incorporate natural capital into corporate strategic decision, operation and management. Furthermore, it makes the following contributions: the popularization of the concept and assessment methods of natural capital, the mainstreaming of biodiversity value accounting, and developing a model for economic transformation that benefits the nature and promoting high-quality development.

We hope that this book can popularize some advanced concepts and successful practices to all walks of life, so that more enterprises, social organizations and individuals can protect the environment, sustainably use the biological resources and practice the ecological civilization, thus jointly promoting the conservation and sustainable development of biodiversity and building a better future for all.

Goal 15 of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework under negotiation requires all enterprises to make mandatory assessment and disclosure of their impacts on and dependence on biodiversity. The Biodiversity: Corporate Practice and Contribution in China not only demonstrates the possibility of such work, but also emphasizes that enterprises, nature and human beings can benefit from it.

Its release shows the world the pioneering exploration of Chinese enterprises in the field of natural capital accounting. I hope this book will inspire more organizations to pay attention to the value of nature and people, and encourage them to join forces to move in the right direction to create an equitable, climate neutral and nature positive future for themselves and future generations.

“We were among the first enterprises to promote social responsibility and sustainable development in China and to encourage Chinese enterprises' participation in biodiversity”, Ellie Xiang, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department, GoldenBee Consulting and Representative of Capitals Coalition China Hub said in her keynote speech at the launch event.
