Supply Chain Sustainability Advanced Training for Auto Suppliers

On November 7-8, the Supply Chain Sustainability Advanced Training for Automotive Suppliers was successfully held in Shanghai.
 
The training was organized by GoldenBee CSR Consulting, the Chinese facilitator of Drive Sustainability (DS) – a partnership between 10 global auto companies, to help suppliers better understand the guiding principles of DS, especially on Environment and Health & Safety and Business Ethics and Human Rights & Working Conditions, so as to improve suppliers’ performance on supply chain. About 75 representatives from auto supplier enterprises, OEMs, CSR Europe, and GoldenBee attended the trainings.
 
Each training session had two break-out sessions — Environment and Health & Safety and Business Ethics and Human Rights & Working Conditions. Ms. Yibo Dai, Deputy General Manager of GoldenBee CSR Consulting, and Ms. Lin Bo, Deputy General Manager of GoldenBee CSR Consulting, respectively gave the trainings of business ethics and human rights & working conditions on November 7 and November 8. Ms. Zhu Yin, Technical Manager of Central China, TUV NORD, gave the trainings of Environment and Health & Safety.

In the general part, Ms. Dai and Ms. Lin presented the Guiding Principles that describes OEMs expectations towards human rights, working conditions and environmental leadership, for their suppliers and their subcontractors. In addition, they also introduced the global sustainability trends and local expectations on sustainability from three dimensions including authorities, civil society and media.

In the break-out session part, trainers of two groups led the suppliers to have brainstorm on their biggest challenges & issues faced in regarding to business ethics, human rights and working conditions and EHS, introduced methodologies to support suppliers to analysed the root causes and come up with feasible actions. Moreover, trainers further guided the suppliers to make improvement plan.
 
 
 
During the training, trainers provided some case studies related to key issues, such as responsible sourcing, labour rights, workplace safety, employee health, environmental pollution reduction and energy conservation in auto industry, ICT industry, etc. In addition, trainers also provided practical guidance in the group discussion and motivated suppliers to put forward more ideas while answering the questions raised by the supplier. In the end session, all suppliers regroup to share their results of the full day trainings and expressed their expectations on future exchange on such kind of training.
