The 2nd Forum on Social Responsibility of Chemical Industry held in Shanghai

On September 19, 2018, the 17th China International Chemical Industry Fair (ICIF China 2018) was held in Shanghai. As one of the important theme forums of ICIF China 2018, the 2nd Forum on Social Responsibility of Chemical Industry themed “Smart Chemical Industry, Responsible Procurement” was co-sponsored by ICIF China and China WTO Tribune and held at Shanghai New International Expo Center.
 
Chen Shaohua, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chemical Industry Branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, introduced and released the 2018 Excellent CSR Practices of Chemical Industry. The case collection includes a number of chemical enterprises that have performed their corporate social responsibilities outstandingly. It aims to encourage more chemical enterprises to better fulfill their social responsibilities.
 
Afterwards, the forum discussed the theme of “sustainable procurement.” First, Bu Maoliang, Associate Professor of School of Business, Nanjing University, gave a speech on the theme Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Procurement from the Perspective of International Business to discuss general effects of CSR and its positive impact on the supply chain and procurement. Ms. Dai Yibo of GoldenBee CSR Consulting made an in-depth analysis of the current situation and trend of chemical enterprises releasing their sustainable development reports and interpreted the responsibility and practice of the highlighted supply chain. Speakers from Sinopec Group, Air Liquide China, Clariant Chemicals (China) Ltd., and Sennics Co., Ltd. shared their concept and practice regarding responsible procurement and CSR management.
