No.5 Montréal Process releases Yanji Declaration to promote the sustainable forest management
On May 1, Argentina, Canada, China and the United States and other member states jointly released the
Yanji Declaration. As the basic guideline on promoting sustainable forest management practices and technological exchanges and cooperation for all member states, the declaration promises to maximize the application of standards and index system in the future, and provide an efficient and flexible technical framework for policy making and related discussions to promote policy making and practical exploration of sustainable forest management.

Nowadays, human mankind exert increasingly great impact on the nature, and forest, the main body of the terrestrial ecosystem, and the community dependent on the forest are facing serious challenges. The
Yanji Declaration represents a commitment by the resource-holders that hold 60% of the world’s forests and 90% of the temperate and northern forests, 35% of the population, and 45% of global forest product trade and will help curb the trend of global forests loss, laying a solid foundation for the implementation and achievement of the goal of global sustainable forest.
