No. 2 UAE proposes 11 CSR initiatives to implement the Year of Giving strategy
On March 19, UAE Ministry of Economy held the coordination meeting on CSR agenda and proposed 11 initiatives to create workplaces that take up philanthropy as part of its core values, including “national corporate social responsibility index”, “social responsibility passport” and “social responsibility label”. Three initiatives of “Financial privileges will be granted to companies with high social responsibility contributions” “Companies will be asked for mandatory declaration of their corporate social responsibility” and “responsible procurement” are listed into the legislation system of the Year of Giving. CSR is one of the six pillars of the Year of Giving strategies announced to endorse the culture of giving among society members.
Reason for listing:
The UAE’s encouragement and restraint on CSR fulfillment reflects that it is becoming an international trend to regulate and guide the responsible commercial behavior of enterprises from the national top design level, and legalize the social responsibility. It also warns Chinese enterprises on the “Belt and Road” that the requirements and expectations of the investors for corporate social responsibility will only be higher and higher, and enterprises must value the CSR during overseas development.
