Build New Era Supply Chain    Contribute to Inclusive Development

- The 17th Sino-European CSR Roundtable Forum -

5 December 2017, Shanghai

Background

As a professional and practical communication platform and channel for corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Sino-European CSR Round Table Forum has been successfully held 16   times in the past years. It has been well received by stakeholders and conducted with great support from participants, including relevant Chinese government departments, CSR organizations as well as Chinese and European enterprises. Focusing on the building of responsible supply chain for many years, covering related topics such as caring for employees, harmonious labour relations, good communication mechanism and partnership between buyers and suppliers, the forum aims to establish a communication platform for buyers and suppliers and to deliver constructive suggestions regarding topics related from the perspective of corporate social responsibility.

The just-ended 19th CPC National Congress pointed out that China has entered a new era, and the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved to be that between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life. The transformation of the principal contradictions in China redefines the reasons for the existence of enterprises and its development direction. Enterprises, as a part of the solution to the social contraction, will also contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with actions. In the new era, how to create a sustainable supply chain, and how to change the "unbalanced and inadequate development" of the enterprises themselves and their industries  to better meet the people's ever-growing needs for a better life"? This forum will focus on the topic of building a responsible supply chain to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in SDG8. Distinguished guests from well-known companies and sustainability experts will be invited to share their perspective and approaches to translating SDG8 into feasible and achievable action plans against the new Chinese social contraction and pursue sustainable supply chain development.
