Since 2006, China WTO Tribune has set up an annual column of the top 10 domestic and international CSR events in the past year. In order to ensure comprehensive samples with more precise event description, and open and transparent selection process, we made daily collection and classification, and a consultation of a selected numbers of CSR experts from government, enterprises, universities and research institutions was conducted to further ensure the professionalism and authority of this list.
No.02 SGX introduces “comply or explain” principle of sustainability reporting
On June 20, Singapore Exchange (SGX) introduced “comply or explain” principle of sustainability reporting to require enterprises add content related to practice of sustainable development in their reports. Local listed enterprises have to publish at least one sustainability report each year from 2018.
Reason for listing:
Stock exchange has specific advantages in optimizing regulation, principle and market opportunity and further promoting the world economy towards green and more inclusive direction. The semi-mandatory principle “comply or explain” will facilitate listed enterprises to improve their sustainability reports, and further improve sustainable capability and performance. This principle also contributes to a better understanding of company’s prospect and the capability of managing level for investors and helps enterprises to attract investors around the world.
