【Top 10 CSR Events in China】No.01 Ten ministries jointly release Guiding Opinions on Promoting Green Consumption

Since 2006, China WTO Tribune has set up an annual column of the top 10 CSR events in the past year of both China and the world. In order to ensure comprehensive samples with more precise event description, and open and transparent selection process, we made daily collection and classification, and a consultation of CSR experts from government, enterprises, universities and research institutions was conducted to further ensure the professionalism and authority of this list.

No.01 Ten ministries jointly release Guiding Opinions on Promoting Green Consumption


On March 1, 2016, Guiding Opinions on Promoting Green Consumption formulated by China National Development and Reform Commission and other nine ministries, was published. The Opinions deploys the consumption of green products, green service supply and financial support and proposes to support develop sharing economy and form the thrift, green and low-carbon and healthy life style and consumption mode.
Reason for listing:
Green consumption is an essential choice to deal with the shortage of energy and resources and a necessary approach to sustain the ecosystem balance. The Opinions aims to play the model role of government and incentive the public by emphasizing consumption idea, long term mechanism and government’s procurement and so on. Multiple efforts will promote to eliminate the constraints of public’s awareness, market, capital, policy and system to green consumption. The slogan “responsible consumption, promotes sustainable development” provides the practical and innovative methodology to the green and resource-saving society, and also delivers a practical “do-it -now” code of conduct.

2. On November 4, Chinese E-Commerce Research Centre published 2016 China Consumer Online Consumption Report and Online Shopping Direction. It indicates the green consumption has become a new trend for the online market.
