No. 10 Paris Pledge for Action Boosts Paris Agreement

The COP 21, held from Nov.30-Dec.11, approved the Paris Agreement. To encourage non-state actors to take actions, Laurent Fabius, French Minister of Foreign Affairs, proposed an inclusive initiative—Paris Pledge for Action— to non-state actors. As of December, signatories including 400 businesses, 150 cities and 120 investors, representing US$11 trillion, have committed to assisting the implementation of Paris Change in a timely and efficient manner, and accelerate their transformation to cope with climate change.
Reasons for Selection:
It is one of the most profound changes in international climate negotiation in recent years that we attach great importance to the role that enterprises and society have played in tackling climate change. As a milestone in climate governance, Paris Agreement conveys the signal of transformation to a green and low carbon economy and the importance of multi-governance. Enterprises embraces this trend through their actions and will strengthen their competitiveness.
