Biodiversity Protection and Sustainable Development Seminar

Since the Convention on Biological Diversity came into force in 1993, the importance of biodiversity for human survival and development is widely recognized by people and the international community also highlighted the biodiversity loss and climate change as the urgent problems of the world. Chinese government attaches great importance to biodiversity protection and included it as one of the focuses to promote construction of ecological civilization. Enterprises, as an important social group, their dependence and impact on biodiversity cannot be underestimated. No matter for the expectations from stakeholders or the self-development, participation in biodiversity protection, sustainable use of biodiversity, and fair share of benefits of biodiversity become urgent issues to be solved by more and more enterprises.
To further improve the decision makers’ awareness of biodiversity protection and enhance their practices, China WTO Tribune and the Foreign Trade Association jointly host the Biodiversity Protection and Sustainable Development Seminar. This seminar will invite experts from the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of Ministry of Environmental Protection, professional consulting companies and the Foreign Trade Association to give keynote speeches and join the panel discussion. They will introduce the significance, values, management system construction of enterprises' participation in the biodiversity, analyze the application of the information disclosure tool and share the policy and regulation on enterprises' participation in the biodiversity in Europe and their best practices. The participating enterprises will get a certificate after the seminar, and they also will have prioritised access to the series events of “The Awareness and Ability Improvement of Biodiversity for Enterprise Decision Makers in Face of Climate Change Programme".
