Four Swedish companies: Volvo Group, H&M, SCA and SKF, are all committed to exerting leadership on CSR in China. At the CSR forum on 5 June they shared their strategies to address global and regional challenges such as climate change, water management and aging society.
Focusing on the environmental and social challenges, these companies have demonstrated their commitment with ambitious targets and strategies. They integrate solutions to these challenges into their products and services and seek engagement with a broad scale of stakeholders.
"Volvo Group's vision is to become the world leader in sustainable transport solutions," said Huang Zheng, Director of Public Affairs and CSR of Volvo Group China. "Quality, safety and environmental care are our core values."
H&M has developed a strategy to become the leading water steward in the fashion industry. "We work on awareness raising, water impact assessment, supply chain management and, most important, engagement of stakeholders," said Tien Shiao, responsible for sustainability and partnership at H&M China.
"For SCA, sustainability is a business approach. Facing challenges in the aging society, SCA provides professional family nursing service to create an independent, happy and high-quality life for the old people in China," said Anna Sigurdsson, Health Care Manager of SCA/Vinda.
SKF has developed a new climate strategy and set sector-leading targets for greenhouse gas reduction. "We not only work hard to reduce GHG emission from our own and suppliers' operation, but also use our innovative solutions to minimize the clients' negative environmental impact," said Li Xiao Xi, Manager of Environment, Health and Safety of SKF Northern China.
The forum was co-hosted by the China WTO Tribune, a Chinese magazine focused on CSR issues, and the CSR Centre of the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing together with other sponsors in Beijing.
