CNBM: “Green Town Program” Powers New-type Urbanization

China National Building Materials Group Corporation (CNBM), a central enterprise under the direct supervision of the SASAC, spearheads the development of China’s building materials industry. Challenge
In China’s rural areas, most of houses are experiencing ineffective insulation, poor windproof and aseismic performance and fast-aging rate. In the process of construction, we need a large quantity of clay resources, manpower and water and produce noise and dust pollution. In addition, we have to face many challenges like longer construction period, more difficult reconstruction and unrecoverable building materials in the traditional construction of houses. All these problems cannot be ignored in the implementation of urbanization process.

Solution
Upholding the concept of “green, low-carbon, beautiful, nostalgia” and adopting modern building technology, Beixin has realized the trinity of using new building material, building new houses and promoting new-type urbanization.
Beixin has proposed “Beixin Green Town”, a program for urbanization construction in connection with the actual situation in China. In September, 2012, Beixin signed an agreement for the reconstruction of whole village at Shitang Road, Shicheng Town, Miyun County in Beijing. The company implemented the reconstruction project with its thin-wall steel structure, which is a complete energy-efficient green building system, relying on structural technology and considering the interior and exterior decoration, thermal insulation, plumbing and electrical engineering, construction equipment and ecology.
Achievements
The environmental advantages in Beixin’s thin-wall steel-structure houses have greatly made up the shortcoming of traditional brick-concrete buildings. This technology has not only made rural and urbanization houses more aesthetic and increased their service life, safety and comfort with the same cost as that of rural traditional houses. Therefore, these houses are very suitable for new rural construction. At present, Beixin has started or completed the construction of new-type houses in Gaobeidian of Hebei province, Baiyin of Gansu province, Guang’an of Sichuan province and other places. Besides, Beixin has created a unique industry supply chain model to ensure the smooth construction of green towns.
Prospect
Driven by the country's favorable policies, Beixin will make its new housing business bigger and stronger. It plans to build about 100 Beixin green towns in China in the coming three years, and create the new-type urbanization integrated with planning, design, material production, house building, environmental protection, industrial investment, and development and construction.
