Yin Gefei appointed as co-secretary general of ESG Subcommittee

On September 16, 2023, sponsored by the China Nuclear Safety and Environmental Culture Promotion Association (hereinafter referred to as "the Association"), co-organized by Beijing Derun Huasheng Investment Co., Ltd. and GoldenBee Consulting, the inaugural meeting of the Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) Subcommittee of the China Nuclear Safety and Environmental Culture Promotion Association was held in Beijing. Yin Gefei, the Founder and Chief Expert of GoldenBee Consulting, was appointed as co-secretary general of the ESG Subcommittee.

 

Dong Baotong, Vice Minister, member of the Leading Party Members Group of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment; Administrator of National Nuclear Safety Administration, Zhu Guangyao, former Vice Minister of Ministry of Finance, Tu Ruihe, Head of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) China Office, and UNEP Representative for China, Pan Chunsheng, Vice President of the China Association for Public Companies attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Wang Zhongmin, former Vice Chairman of the National Council for Social Security Fund, was appointed as honorary president and made a keynote speech, and the meeting was presided over by Yu Jun, President of the Association. More than 240 representatives from government agencies, industry associations and enterprises attended the meeting.

The meeting pointed out that ESG takes ecological protection as the primary concept, highlights sustainable development and social responsibility, is conducive to supporting the high-quality development of China's economy and society with a high-quality ecological environment. It is to accelerate the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, which is of urgent and practical significance for guiding enterprises to invest and fulfill social responsibility. As a national first-level community to publicize and implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization and promote the construction of ecological civilization, the establishment of ESG Subcommittee helps implement ESG work professionally. It is necessary to play a good role as a platform and link, implement the new development concept, and contribute to exploring the road of ESG development with Chinese characteristics.

 

The meeting indicates that China has entered the era of high-quality development.ESG practice is an important path and inevitable requirement for enterprises to achieve green and high-quality sustainable development. It is both an opportunity and a challenge to effectively create the value evaluation requirements of corporate sustainable development from environment, social responsibility and corporate governance, create an ESG ecology with Chinese characteristics, unblock the ESG communication channels between China and other countries, and build ESG-related policies, standards and systems.

Chai Jianshe, Secretary-General of the Association, read out the approval of the establishment of the ESG Subcommittee, with the appointment of Ye Herui (former Deputy Director of the First Department of Nuclear Affairs of the MEE and Deputy Secretary-General of the Association) as the chairman of the ESG Subcommittee, Kuang Shuangli (Director of Beijing Shengda Law Firm), as the secretary-general, and Yin Gefei as co-secretary-general. Representatives of three member units of the ESG Subcommittee made speeches. The signing and unveiling ceremonies of three deepening strategic cooperation agreements were held at the same time.
