Drive Sustainability China OEM & Supplier Exchange Event in Shanghai

It’s important for the enterprises to enhance cooperation and promote industry transformation and upgrading to tackle with climate change, so as to achieve the sustainable development. More and more enterprises in automotive industry have laid emphasis on sustainable green supply chain.       

On 24 March 2023, Drive Sustainability China OEM and Supplier Exchange Event on Carbon Neutrality was held in Shanghai.

Drive Sustainability is a global partnership bringing together 12 partners and 6 supporters of automotive companies, which is committed to improve both their own performance and that of their supply chain by integrating sustainability in the overall procurement process. 

Drive Sustainability has placed the topic of “Carbon Neutrality” among its four long-term ambitions. OEMs believe in the value of having a common standardized approach to carbon management and reduction and would like to scale up their efforts by engaging with automotive suppliers. Drive Sustainability China network includes BMW China, Geely Holdings, Jaguar Land Rover China, Mercedes Benz China, Scania China, Volkswagen Group China, Volvo Cars China, and Volvo Group China.


Drive Sustainability Global 

The exchange event was organized by GoldenBee Consulting, the facilitator of Drive Sustainability China, and moderated by Yibo Dai, Vice President of GoldenBee Consulting. More than 30 participants from OEMs and suppliers of Drive Sustainability China, international organization and professional organization shared their insights and experience.

 

Four representatives from institutions and enterprises shared how to build a green supply chain in the automotive industry.

Xuan Gui, Corporate Cooperation and Supply Chain Programme Director of CDP China introduced the latest progress in low-carbon transformation of Chinese automakers and CDP's disclosure to improve corporate climate governance, providing professional methods and paths for enterprises to promote low-carbon transformation through supply chain environmental information disclosure.

Ming Zhou, CEO of iCreVision, analyzed the importance and methods of collaborative carbon reduction in the auto supply chain from efforts of government, OEMs, and the market.

Zhongqi Lu, General Manager of Value-Added Services Division, State Grid Jiangsu Integrated Energy Services Co., Ltd., summarized carbon market policies at home and abroad. Based on the practices of Jiangsu enterprises, he proposed a development path for carbon neutrality for enterprises, theoretically and practically.  

Zhu Yuhui,  Manager of East China Services, China Yangtze Power Sales Co., Ltd., illustrated the development of clean energy and the market of green power and green certificates, and introduced the Hydropower Clean Energy Corridor of  China Yangtze Power and the its green and low-carbon development direction.

During the discussion, participants exchanged the challenges in collaborative carbon reduction along the supply chain and the carbon management practices of enterprises. They shared how to develop a science-based carbon reduction goals, carbon footprint and  its calculation method of products, as well as management experience in corporate carbon accounting. It is expected that Drive Sustainability continues to play an important role in advancing carbon neutrality in enterprises through common standards and tools, strengthen stakeholder exchange in the automotive industry, and promote the sustainable development of China's automotive supply chain.
