No. 02 European Parliament Approves the Draft of Conflict Minerals Law
On May 20, European Parliament approved the draft Conflict Minerals Law which requires mandatory certification for EU importers of tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold in terms of sourcing to ensure the imported minerals do not come from conflict areas and capital do not flow to these areas so as to prevent the escalation of conflicts and human rights violation in the region.
Reasons for Selection:
Europe becomes the second to bring the control policy of conflict minerals to legal level after America. For enterprises, green purchasing is not enough to cope with all the problems. Ethical purchasing will become an important topic in enterprises’ supply chain management.
