According to the statistics, the quality of clinics in our nation’s primary and middle schools is uneven. The construction of clinics in rural primary and middle schools in central and western regions is even less satisfactory and most primary and middle schools in rural areas have no clinics and professional health care providers at all. Few schools equipped with clinics are facing problems like workers of low professional level, not being fully equipped, aging equipment and neglected maintenance. Therefore, strengthening and improving the health care situation in schools is an essential social project badly needed to be solved to promote children’s health at present and in a long period in the future.
 
At the same time, in recent years, China attaches great importance to the growth of the teenagers in poverty-stricken areas. The Opinions on Strengthening Youth’s Physical Quality from central committee of the CCP and the state council, and Children Development Plan for National Poor Regions (2014-2020) also list the construction of health clinics in rural primary and secondary schools into an important content.
 
In order to be able to provide timely and comprehensive health care and be responsible for students’ physical health and life safety, it is urgent to set up the clinic in rural schools.

By the end of 2015, sunrise plan to protect teenagers’ health action has built 626 sunrise clinics, trained 626 school doctors and benefited over 580,000 impoverished students in 33 counties (including 19 national-level poverty-stricken counties) in 6 provinces and autonomous regions, including Gansu, Ningxia, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi and Shandong.
